Kobe Benson is a 2021 SS/RHP, MIF with a 5-10 150 lb. frame from Boca Raton, FL who attends North Broward Prep. Young, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 6.9 60-yard dash at the FAU camp and a 6.81 at the FGCU camp. Primary shortstop, shows lightness footwork and actions up the middle, fields the ball out front and takes longer strides moving to the ball, works through it well and shows a clean funnel, stays under control, occasionally on the side of throws but accurate across.
Also pitched, simple delivery with a gather on backside, some drop and drive on the backside with good direction to the plate. Did a nice job of filling the strike zone, fastball topped out at 84 mph with cutting life, mixed a curveball with 11-5 shape and lived down in the zone. Switch-hitter, showed best present skill from the right side; begins with an even stance and does a nice job of shifting weight through lower half. Utilizes a short leg lift trigger and shows quickness to hands, gets the barrel out well regularly and shows consistent feel for contact. Starts with an even stance from the left side, keeps hands inside throughout swing, shows hand speed with a linear path through the zone. Good student.
